The son of legendary Irish folk singer Tommy Makem and grandson of renowned traditional singer Sarah Makem, Rory carries on one of Irish music’s great family traditions.  With more than 35 years on the road, Rory has toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Ireland, England and Scotland, including 17 years performing alongside his father.

A gifted singer, storyteller and multi-instrumentalist, Rory brings together the songs, stories, poetry, history and humour at the heart of the Irish folk tradition, accompanying himself on guitar, banjo, mandolin and bouzouki.  He has shared and recorded music with some of folk music’s most celebrated names and has established himself as one of the leading voices carrying the Irish song tradition forward.
